How do you correct FAUX painting?

I'm using a ragging off technique with a lighter color as base. I over worked some areas with the darker glaze/paint mixture. I was simply going to mix some base coat with glaze and rag over the areas too dark. Will that work? HELP!!!! I'm ready to repaint. How do you correct FAUX painting?
It is much harder to fix a negative rag technique than a positive rag technique.

Ragging over the top may work try it and see, it would be the simplest fix. You may need to do a bit of blending around the edges.

If the above ragging over the spot doesn't work well, another suggestion would be to ';overglaze'; the whole wall (rather than repaint), with a second layer of glazing using your initial ragging as kind of a background layer- you could do this in your base coat color or in another complimentary color- this may camouflage any problem areas. This overglazing can be either ragged on or done negatively. I would probably do a positive rag as you will have more control and can add a bit here and there without worrying about lap marks etc...

Before tackling the whole project, replicate your initial ragging on a illustration board, let it dry and then try out an overglaze ragging on over the top of this. if you don't like it wipe it off and try a different color or overglaze technique.

I hope this helps.

See these links for more detailed advice on both positive and negative ragging: http://www.paintinganddecoratingconcours鈥?/a> and: http://www.paintinganddecoratingconcours鈥?/a>How do you correct FAUX painting?
When you are doing FAUX painting it's very easy to ';overdo it '; specially if you are not using the technique the way your supposed to, I don't know what you are doing but some people just drag the rag across the wall, the finish is different but it takes a lot of control to do it without havinhg too much of just one color in areas. Instead try to ';pad'; the rag over the wall, you have more control that way.

Trying to fix it using the base color it's a good idea, just go easy because otherwise you'll have to apply the darker color over again. Have both your colors ready to use and try to mix them in the same rag, doing this helps making it look more even.

I hope this helps.
Do what you were going to try, but..... I think you may have to repaint. Correcting faux finishes can sometimes be rather tricky... give it a try first though !!!
