With the paint products available on the market now, almost any surface can be painted, and the paints will hold well as long as prep work is done properly. Any paint store will be able to direct you to their paints for use on cement and concrete, and you will be able to choose from a wide range of colours.

Before painting, you will have to thoroughly clean the patio, which might wash away some of the rust stains though. Depending on the exact products you purchase prep work will vary a bit, and you might have to use a special primer/sealer product before applying colours. If a clear sealer is recommended, opt for a low-gloss so as to keep with your Tuscan theme. Any faux finish effect can be used, and most paint stores now have free information sheets on different techniques. Good luck %26amp; enjoy the patio! Can one faux paint concrete patio slab?
You can get a lot of ideas and information at hgtv.com I get a lot of help there! They have a fabulous idea for a tuscan style table by using tiles.

I would imagine that you could get the look with an outdoor flat paint. Water based paint will allow your rust satins to show through- if you want to keep them. If you are talking about painting the patio floor then you should consider 'multiple' coats
